“Ramirez, I’m coming for the belts. I’ve been looking forward to these kind of bouts for a long time.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn, on behalf of Matchroom Boxing, has also been buoyant about how to stage this unification fight, aiming for May as the potential month. Hearn also hinted at the possibility of Opetaia eventually stepping up to the heavyweight division, drawing parallels to the path of current heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

In my opinion, Jai is probably, one of the few fighters, that could really challenge Usyk, at cruiserweight or heavyweight,”

Hearn said. However, all that needs to happen before that, is to unify the cruiserweight division, to establish his credibility.
